Have you tried the CD on another system, we will probably find it does work. I have seen where some readers have trouble reading CDs of some vendors because of the way they do their copies.

What you can do to rule out this being a Windows problem is to boot off a Win98 Startup disk, select "with cdrom support" which will load DOS level cdrom drivers and then try to access the CD in DOS. If the drive still cannot read the CD, then unfortunately the only thing to do is to replace the cdrom drive!

1. Boot off a Windows 98 Startup disk and select the option to load cdrom support.
2. Check to see what drive letter is assigned to your cdrom drive when the drivers load.
3. Then once at the a: prompt, type 'X:' <ENTER> (no quotes) - where X is the drive letter you saw assigned to it.
4. Then insert your cd and then type 'dir' <ENTER> (no quote)

If you don't have a Win98 Startup disk, you can download one from (
