PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Win 98SE

Hi,
Just today I uninstalled a couple of programs I don't use anymore.
Re-started my PC and while loading on the black screen I get the message that I have a missing ASPIENUM.VXD file and is connected to the System.ini file. It stays to reinstall the program for it. So I installed everything back that I took off and it's still coming up. My PC seems to work fine but it's very annoying having that come on the screen everytime I start up my PC. Does anyone have any idea where I could get this missing file from? I tried searching the net but it didn't come up with anything.

A quick search with google, tells it's probably related to your (SCSI)CD-R/RW device. if you have a cd/rw try reinstalling the software for it

Hi,

Since you uninstalled some software and you now get this error message, I am assuming that the uninstaller deleted the file but forgot to remove the system.ini or registry entry.

I am assuming since you removed these applications that you don't want them, therefore un-install them again.

Then find the entry and delete it:

1. First check system.ini
2. Start > Run
3. Type system.ini and hit OK
4. Go Edit > Find and search for ASPIENUM.VXD
5. Chances are you will not find it in system.ini
6. Search for it in the registry
7. Start > Run
8. Type regedit and hit ok
9. Backup the registry, File > Export
10. Give the file a name and location on your hard drive
11. Select ALL at the bottom and hit Save
12. Go to this key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD
13. Look for a folder names ASPIENUM and delete it
14. If there is no ASPIENUM folder than click once on "My Computer" in regedit
12. Then go to Edit > Find...
13. Type in ASPIENUM.VXD and hit 'Find Next' until you find it and delete it
