PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Mac OS 9
Problem Application Name & Version: Fax Browser
Problem Hardware Make & Model:IMac
Error Messages:


My neighbor has an IMac that connects via, dialup, correctly to the internet. However, I can't get the Fax Browser to dialout to send a fax, or to connect when she receives a fax.

The machine is using the standard Apple Internal 56k Modem. I have checked the extensions and Serial Port Monitor is unchecked under the Startup Group.

When trying to view the modem settings, I get the following error:
The Fax software could not be activated because the modem is in use by another application. Modem settings will be updated as soon as the modem becomes available.

I get this message, even after a fresh reboot and the Internet connection hasn't been used.

Any ideas? Thanks,
