PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows XP
Problem Application Name & Version:.NET Messenger 6.0
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:I was using an older version on .NET messenger and it told me there was a security breach that I needed to immediately download a newer version.  So I did this.  My newer version will not let me sign in and the old version keeps working and I keep getting the message to download a newer version.  How do I delete the old version and how do I get my new version to work?

Thanks for any help out there.

Hi,

To un-install Messenger:
1. You have to edit sysoc.inf (located in /WINDOWS/inf).
2. Under [Components] you should see the following line:
msmsgs=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7.
Take the word 'hide' out of the line, and it should look like this:
msmsgs=ocgen.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7.  Exit and save.
Notice the two commas before the 7
3. Goto Add/Remove programs > Add/Remove Windows Components
4. You should see an entry for MSN messenger at the bottom, allowing you to uninstall it.
