PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows XP Pro
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

I had a nasty virus on my computer that I finally
got rid of by reformatting the hard drive.  However,
reinstalling WinXP Pro has proven to be a challenge.
If I boot the system , I get a "NT LDR file is missing" message.
I can't get the XP CDROM to boot.  Went to Microsoft site and
downloaded 6 setup floppy disks, but can't get past the 1st
one.  It says "setup is inspecting your computer's
hardware configuration" and then it just freezes.
I am afraid something is wrong in my BIOS or CMOS files.
I have a CR-RW and a DVD-ROM, but seems I can't my pc to
read from either.
Would appreciate any input. Thanks !

Hi,

Were you ever able to boot off the WinXP cd? Is your BIOS settings set to boot off the cdrom drive first, then the floppy drive and then the hard drive?

No, I still can't boot from the XP CD.
I have the BIOSset to CDROM, then floppy, then hard disk. Still no luck. Huh?

Hi,

When you say you still can't do you mean the system will not boot off the cd or it does but you still get an error message?

My computer does not read anything from the CD-ROM
drive, only the floppy drive. So,no it does not boot
from the CD-ROM at all.  If I try the set-up floppys,
I insert the first one, it runs for a bit, says
"now checking your hardware configuration", then just freezes up.
