PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Win 98

Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Hi all,
Recently, I found my comp to be running a bit slow so I went to degrag the hd.  But the hard disk scan found that something was being written to the hd all the time.

I later found that in C:\windows\kernell, files were being written to it nonstop.  Each file is about 80kb in size, and the filename is usually related to cracks for software or p*rn related.

Is there a way to find the source of all these files and stop it filling my hard drive?

Thanks in advance.

I've already go Ad-aware installed.  But I think I've found the solution anyway.  Seems a worm called W32/Blaxe-A has infected my comp.  Usually goes through the p2p networks.  Anyway, a company called Sophos has released an anti virus software that supposedly removes it. Haven't tested it yet, but hopefully will help others with the same problem.
Let's hope it works!

Thanks for your reply btw.

Hi,

Try http://housecall.antivirus.com/ for a free online virus scan that will clean this virus.
