Hi,

This is what I would do:

Check for a virus: http://housecall.trendmicro.com
Check for spyware: http://www.mytechsupport.ca/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=42&topic=1226
Test hard drives: Run 'CHKDSK /r' at a Command Prompt and then reboot if asked
Test memory: http://www.mytechsupport.ca/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=42&topic=1163
Run in Diagnostics Startup Mode to see if problem persists: http://www.mytechsupport.ca/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=42&topic=941
If problem persists after all this: Make sure all your fans, especially the CPU fan, are spinning and well seated on the CPU. Also make sure that the system is free of dust.

Hi! I completed all the tasks you have requested with no sign of any problems. This is really starting to bug as I cannot load any software onto my PC, nor can I remove any software. I have 7 critical updates from Microsoft to download, the downloading bit is ok its just when it comes to installing the updates where the problem is, it just freezes, meaning nothing happens, helppppp!

Hi, Totally ignore the above statement, tried, just as a off chance to install the microsoft updates and to my total amazement they installed. Can you explain this strange behaviour? I still have one problem though, I have Java 2 runtime enviroment that i want to get rid of from my PC, except when I go in control panel - Add/remove programs the program is there but with no change/remove button for me to uninstall it, there isnt even any uninstall feature anywhere for this program, do you know how I can remove this software totally from my PC.

Hi,

What version of the Java Runtime is installed?
Is it from Sun or another software manufacturer?

Its from Sun Microsystems, I enjoy playing Yahoo games but could not as there was nothing there to support it so I had to down load Java, at a size of 100mb which i thought strange

Hi,

Sounds like you downloaded the SDK or Enterprise Edition, all you need to run Java is the JRE.

Perhaps since things are now working, re-installing this 100mb Java Runtime will properly install the uninstall routine so you can then uninstall it (if you still have the 100mb file).
