rebooted with the startup floppy in. ran debug
ran fdisk, recreated the partitions formated the hard drive.
ran the sisfix.exe. did a reboot.
but can't install the cdrom drivers. the cdrom is spining and it opens
but pc says no drivers or drivers are installed even tried a different drive letter, no good. the first time i did this it loaded the drivers and i installed win98, but would not boot past the logo screen. thanks for you help

Hi,

Did you try booting off a Win98 Startup Disk? It will load cdrom driver and allow you to run setup from the 'win98' folder on the cdrom.

Hi,

Try running setup with the following switch to bypass scandisk during setup and let us know how far you get this time.

setup /is

Hi,

Could very well be memory related or hard drive. I would boot off a Win98 Startup Disk and run scandisk with a surface scan on your drive to check for bad sectors. Also run a memory tester from http://www.mytechsupport.ca/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=42&topic=1163
