I use windows ME.
By pressing CTRL + ALT + Del I can get a list of programs running in the background. My problem is that there are so many of them, even immediately after a restart. What I would like to know is how many of these programs are important and how I can stop the others running everytime I boot up my machine. The programs running are: DrgtoDsc, Explorer, Ccapp, Lwbwheel, Kbdap32a, P2p networking, Gsicon, Rxmon, Monwow, Csinsm32, playlist, Ghoststarttrayapp, Dslagent, Systray, Nprotect, csinject, Ghoststartservice and Projselector.

Hi,

The ones I know are valid are Explorer, Ccapp, Systray, NProtect, the others are either installed apps or spyware. If you don;t recognize any of the other, I would install a spyware remover, you may be surprised!

Hi,

Did you find anything running the spyware remover?

The spyware remover came up with quite a lot. Nothing that I could recognise from the original list, but enough to set the alarm bells ringing. I have no removed all suspect spyware.

Thanks again for your help
