Did bbhagrid's solution work?

If the link above goes dead, the contents of that page was:
quote:
To resolve the error message "NTLDR is Missing" follow the below steps:

1. Boot the computer with a Windows 95 or Windows 98 Startup diskette or another bootable diskette with sys.com on it.
2. At the A:\> prompt type:
sys c: <press enter>
3. After pressing enter you should receive the prompt "System Transferred". Once the file system has been transferred reboot the computer without the diskette and attempt to reproduce the error.

Hi,

Does your laptop support booting off a CD? If so, try re-installing Windows by booting off the WinXP cd and selecting to do a repair installation. This will keep all your files and settings.

If the repair installation works and gets you into Windows, run a CHKDSK on your drive to see if there are any bad sectors which may have caused your original problem. I would also run a memory tester.

Simple answer...possibly.

My boss asked me about this problem last night. Upon arriving at his house (I can't do everything over the phone ya know!), it was quick to notice a floppy in his drive. I ejected it and it booted fine.

My theory is that some system files were on the disk, but not all and was trying to boot off it.

Try it out. Somewhere it's possible that it's attempting to boot from something other than the default /root drive that windows is installed on. (other places may be network locations or CD. Check BIOS for boot order).

But then again, this may not be it at all:p

As I recall I inserted a Win98 startup disk and it detected the MBR as being
damaged. It then corrected this and everything was fine after that.

I have the same problem: NTLDR is missing ...Please press CNTRL+ALT+DELETE to Restart

I'm using XP Pro and I used Norton System Works 2004 from the CD without installing it. On the Windoctor scan some problems arose I think in trying to fix them removed something from C to another drive(At least this what I believe it did).

Is my problem in Windows or does it messed with the BIOS boot and I need to configure it?
Thanks

hi,
thanks for those who posted their reply I figure out that it can't detect the harddisk so it prompt an ntldr missing.. and if a diskette is inserted to your floppy drive it prompt also ntlrd missing but now its ok i can use my desktop now. thanks Wink

Same here.
Norton System Works changed the primary drive in the BIOS settings and I had to restore them.

Thanks

same here,
I did nothing, and it worked well for nearly 18 months, and suddenly i got the message "NTLDR is missing, press any key to restart". I have Windows XP CD, and I entered the repair console (pressed R in some setup menu). after i reached DOS I copied a file named I386, but i couldn't find the NTDETECT file. this, in any case, didn't work. H-E-L-P!!???

Boot to the XP CD. When it asks you if you want to install or Repair, choose Repair. This will take you to the Recovery console. Choose the XP install to log into, usually there's only 1, and enter the password when prompted. For Home, the default password is blank. At the C:\Windows prompt type the following commands:

FIXBOOT, answer Yes
CD \
ATTRIB -H NTLDR
ATTRIB -S NTLDR
ATTRIB -R NTLDR
ATTRIB -H NTDETECT.COM
ATTRIB -S NTDETEC.COM
ATTRIB -R NTDETECT.COM
COPY X:\I386\NTLDR C:\
COPY X:\I386\NTDETECT.COM C:\
In steps 9 and 10, "X" is the letter of your CD-ROM drive.
