PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:windows xp

I have 3 computers that i am trying to network. Two of them have NIC cards and the third has on board LAN. I am using cable internet and a D-Link DI604 router. The host computer has two NICS installed. But whenever I hook up two computers to the router, "cable unplugged" appears for a second then it say "cable connected" And i cant even get online with either of them. I hope someone can help

I have a similar set up.

D-Link DI604 router and cable
2 computers both running Win2k

When I first did it, took less than 10 minutes.  Couldn't believe how easy.

When you first installed, were your pc's shut down?
Did you try to log into the router control panel '192.168.0.1'  ?
You shouldn't get the 'cable unplugged'  because the pc's should have been off when you connected them.
