PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Win2000
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Some program keeps changing my files, does anyone know what could be changing my jpg's to jpeg, my html's to binary.
I'm using front page express to create web pages, so my links won't work if I point them to a graphic that is a jpg. A page that I have been working on for a week won't open anymore as I saved it. It tells me there is binary data in it and when it opens it all looks like junk to me.Shocked
Attaching file as a txt. As html does not seem acceptable
Any help would be appriciated.

Download Attachment: augsept03.txt 100.33 KB
Right click and select Save Target As... then rename the file as shown here and save.

Hi,

Are you uploading these pages to your web server in binary and then downloading them back to your system in binary? Make sure you upload settings are set to AUTO or ASCII when uploading HTML files.

As for the jpg problem, I never used Front Page Express, therefore I am not sure if there are any settings than would do this but I suggest you verify them to see.

The files are being changed before I get a chance to upload them. So it's something on my system changing them, for the moment I've made all my files as "read only" hoping that at least I won't lose a weeks work again. Personally I'm suspecious of Explorer, Publisher and Word. I've noticed that if I save a web page from the internet or save a publisher newsletter, these programs save a html into my documents, creates a folder & saves all the graphics as jpeg's. Front page express belongs to the Microsoft group but is simply a very basic program & as far as I know their is no command in it to save as a binary file. It's only since I've upgraded to the later versions of these programs that these strange happenings are occuring. I simply wish to be in charge of how I save my files and not have some other program come along & change it behind my back.
Almost sounds human :-)
