Hi.Just recently i turned on my PC and i have no sound. This has happened before and i have simply remobed my sound card from the control panel/SYSTEM and rebooted. It would then find the sound card and things would work fine. THis time when i do that i still have no sound and no volume control in the bottom right corner. I have noticed that aswell as my sound card there is something called MPU-401 compatible. Some sort of MIDI device. Ive tried removing that but it keeps re-installing it when i boot up. I have nothing plugged in the sound card and have no new software installed recently. I would really appreciate your help! Thanks for your time.
Operating System Version: Windows 98 SE
Problem Application Name & Version:My sound card is called Avance AC'97

I know Legacy brand sound cards dont like working with windows, but this is a diffrent brand correct?  What I would do is remove all sound drivers from the device manager, then I would uninstall everything pertaining to your sound card from the control panel and start the install over again.   Your drivers might be outdated or the wrong ones,  if this is the case you can download new ones from the manfacturers website.

                     Hope this helpes
