Operating System Version: Win98 Second Edition
Problem Application Name & Version: Office XP
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages: The operating system is not presently configured to run this application

I have been using Office XP within my Win98 OS for some time and it worked fine. Suddenly when I try to open a new document or an existing one in any application (Word, Access, Excel) I get the above error message.  Any ideas?  Any suggestion would be appreciated.  To my knowledge no settings have been changed but I'm not the only person in the family using this computer.

I would try a repair installation of Office XP. Run "Detect and Repair" from the help menu in any of the Office apps (e.g. Word...)
