PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: XP
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Need Help.

My Internet won't open certain websites like McAfee or my Hotmail inbox. I used Trend Micro's House Call and found a virus called "TROJ WINSHOW.A = winlink.dll" and "TROJ WINSHOW.A = winshow.dll". I followed the steps I was told to delete these two files but still hasn't fixed the prob.

Please help as this is really p***ing me of.

I see you are running XP.Did you untick "System Restore" before removing the trojan. If not it would have restored itself again

Hi
In some cases you have to close the restore but it seem you have not had to and the trojan has been removed. You can get a free program called "Stinger" from Mcafee which is worth keeping as they upgrade it on a regular basis and it will remove all Trojans and other nasties. http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/ can you open pages yet or are you still having probs.Which sites cant you open !!

Yes it looks like a hijack job but Stinger will get rid of this also.If you are running a pop-up stopper these can also stop web sites from opening.

If you are in doubt get Ad-Aware http://www.lavasoft.de/software/adaware/
Whatever it finds you can delete in safety without any worries.I run this every few days to empty any tracking cookies and other spy/ad ware that gets bumped on the computer.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [blss] C:\Program Files\blss\blss.exe this is also spyware.Remove it..... but make sure you have System Restore turned off first. You might even find in Start/Run/ and type in (msconfig) dont include brackets and click OK. Look under the "Startup" tab and look for "blss.exe" and untick it if it is there. You can the delete the main file from C:\Program Files\blss

Hi,

I deleted that blss.exe but still are unable to open certain websites. The main one is McAfee, i can open the first site (McAfee.com) but when i try to login in it freezes. I found that if i delete my cookies before i login in it works. Then when im on the next screen i have to delete them again to link to the next page. This works only up to License Agreement then i get problems. Not sure if it's a virus or if it's my setting. Need Help
