i cannot get my spare computer to accet a hdd, someone borrowed my coputer to fix it but wen i tried to put a new hdd in the coputer would not accept it any tips on how i can solve this proble

Check to see if the jumpers are set to master or cable select (CS) also see that the red edge of the cable goes in pin 1 on the IDE 1. The slot is normaly blue. Did it give you an error message ?.

i had all jumpers set and the red bit of wire was in the correct place it is bringing up an error message but i cannot remeber wot it was i will look later and i will let you  know thanx
