PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:XP
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Apologies if this is posted already but I have looked and can't find an answer.
I have two pc's which are networked via a cross-over cable. My host pc has XP home while the client pc has XP-Pro.
I can see the client pc on the network and can share files and print and all the normal things but I can't seem to share an internet connection.  I have tried everything - I think.
I can ping each pc from the other and that works fine and I can connect to the internet with the host pc no problem at all.
Both pc's have a network card but only the host pc has a modem.
The IP address and subnet mask and default gateway all seem to be fine.
Should both pc's have a modem?
AOL is my internet provider, could this be the problem?

Please help this is driving me to insanity?

Hi,

Are you using AOL 7.0? If so, AOL 7.0 does not support ICS.

Just an update
AOL 8 does not support ICS if you are using a modem to connect.  Broadband users are ok for internet sharing.  I don't have broadband and can't get it either mores the pity.

Hmm...I'm having an identicle problem, Host computer is running Windows XP Home Edition.
Host is connected with a  cross-over cable to a Windows ME box.
Both computers have NIC cards, windows XP has a modem.
XP box connects to internet without any problem, can ping both computers, can access all shared folders from either computer....but can't open web pages.
I've checked and rechecked the settings for TCP/IP and IP address.  I'm using a dial up account that is not AOL.

If you have connected the pc via a Lan cable, network cards with shared internet connect: this may help,
- make sure firewall is not activated on the second pc.
- also I presume you have not tried to set-up an internet connect on the second pc as it should access the internet through the LAN, main pc using shared connection
