It sounds like the virus you had and (hopefully) removed (  WORM_AGOBOT.BL.)has left its mark.If you are sure that the virus has been removed just follow these instructions.

Open Registry Editor. To do this, click Start>Run, type REGEDIT, then press Enter.
In the left panel, double-click the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>
Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
In the right panel, locate and delete the entry:
Windows Update=" WINUPDATE.EXE"
In the left panel, double-click the following:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>
Windows>CurrentVersion>RunServices
In the right panel, locate and delete the entry:
Windows Update=" WINUPDATE.EXE"

After doing what you suggested, I'm still having the problem.  I found and deleted the entry that was in the "Run" folder, but the entry wasn't in the "Run Services" folder.  Any ides?  My virus software is about 3 months old.
Thanks.

Just realised that in 2000 you cant get into the main startup System Configuration Utility(msconfig) folder that allows you to stop programs that run at Startup so the update.exe looks like being in there to.So,more instructions..

I looked in my registry in all the places but could not find the winupdate entry....However I downloaded scanreg.exe and used it to search for winupdate.exe.  I found the key and removed what was nesessary.

you can download scanreg by going to this link
