Error Messages: system32.exe missing error message

Hi, about 2 days ago I started getting an error message at windows startup (just after the welcome screen) about how 'system32.exe' is missing. Can anyone help me in sorting this as it has increased by XP load time and is generally annoying. If as well as posting any help you could e-mail it to me at ethereal@kyle-katarn.net then that would be great.

Hi again, well it looks like after some browsing I found the answer and solved the problem. But for any one else getting the same problem here is what I did:

First I used 'Spybot Search and Destroy' to kill anything that wasn't healthy, then I used 'Adaware 6' to clean up anything that wasn't meant to be there. Now, safe in the knowledge that it wasnt a simple tracker/ bit of spyware (that the programs could find) causing me troubles I then checked my 'msconfig' startup (Use Start->Run and type in 'msconfig'). After looking through the 'startup' tab and seeing that nothing with system32.exe related to it was booting at startup I then loaded 'regedit' (Use Start->Run and then type 'regedit') and went Edit->Find and searched for 'system32.exe'. As Windows XP doesn't actually need system32.exe I found the registry entry and deleted it. On next boot the problem was gone Grin

Here are some of the sites that helped me:

Hope some of this helps someone.
