PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:windows xp
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

after an unusual long boot, when my pc came on it was in windows classic mode.strange i thought,so i went to display/themes and windows xp is not listed anymore.determined to get to the bottom of it i tried to get it to run by just double clicking on it in windows/resouces/themes but it tells me it is switched off.

so i tried to turn it on from services but again it wouldn't let me.go on the net and see what i can find out about this i thought, but i find i can't!according to my network/internet connections i have none,my dial up and b/band have dissapeared.i tried to add a new connection but it wouldn't let me saying some services have been turned off.again i can't turn them on manually as it won't let me.

i have run my anti virus program and looked through device manager but nothing appears amiss.any ideas as thats my technical knowhow exhausted.

Hi,

Are you logged in as the same user you always use?

Try running this free online scanner http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Hi,

Have you perhaps booted up in Safe-Mode by accident?

Go to Start > Run > msconfig
Make sure it is set to NORMAL mode.
