Operating System Version:
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

I have a laptop running Windows XP home (preinstalled) and a desktop running Windows 98SE.

I wish to transfer all my laptop data (25 Gig) to the desktop as backup whilst I do a clean install of Windows XP from the recovery disk. Since this will be a one off, I wish to do it with minimum expense.

I have Laplink 7.5 but it will not install on XP. I have tried XP files & settings transfer but it starts without allowing control of destination drive or data selection. ActiveSync only seems to work with my PDA. '98' Direct cable connection seems incompatible with any options on XP

Can anyone suggest a cheap way of transferring the required files by cable (serial or USB)
