PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows 98 SE (build 4.10.2222)
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: 500 megahertz AMD K6-2 w/3DNow! 16 kilobyte primary memory cache   Board: MSI INC. ALADDIN5 VER:1.0
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz; BIOS: American Megatrends, Inc. 0626 07/15/95
Error Messages:

I would like to upgrade our PC to give to the kids and buy a much newer one (and network the two).  I just bought an 128Mb SDRAM DIMM on ebay to triple the memory.  It struck me that maybe I could also pick up a faster CPU on ebay provided the motherboard would accept it but I dont know how to find out if AMD made a faster CPU with the same pinout. (and is it really this simple ?)

Can anybody help me?

Cheers,

Joe
