Operating System Version: Windows XP

This isn't so much a question, I was just wondering if there is any way that you can keep the internet on whilst your in standby mode. I want to leave my computer on during the night however it's way to loud to leave on in my room. So if I put it on standby mode, it's kinda still on but the Internet gets disconnected. I was wondering if there was any way that I could keep the net on and put it in some kind of mode that it won't make a noise.

I would get a new fan etc etc, but I was wondering if there was a technical way to do this.

Thank you in advance for your help,
