Sorry to have bothered you with my post about 56K.  I later went into your dictionary and got an explanation......56 kilobits per second....which is faster than my slow-working brain!!

you got right 56 k means 56 kilo bites per sec.
generelly this is used for modem speed (dial up type ---means that modem that is attached to your computer either from inside in the form of pci card  or it may be external in a box shapped )
