PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: W2k professional
Problem Application Name & Version: No power on motherboard
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Elite PC A4200 with AMD Athlon 1.1GHz
Error Messages: My computer locked up during internet surffing, I just pushed reset button once and it went south. I pushed power button and it won't start at all. The optical mouse and keyboard LED lights were still on. The power button and reset button looked okay afterwards. So Can anybody on this forum help me out on this?

This computer was built by www.elitepc.com with socketA PCCHIP M807 motherboard (VIA Apollo KT133 chipset). AMD Athlon 1.1GHz processor.
32MB TNT2 M64 4X AGP Video card.

Are the CD drives working ?? If the keyboard and mouse are lite then you still have power on the board.

It looks very much as if your PSU has a problem.Part of the power suppy has failed. Can you get hold of another to try.

Yes. You're right. I opened up the PSU and found a blown capacitor for vent fans. I am going to get a new capacitor or a new PSU tomorrow to replace it. I guess it blew up because I put in a new 5.1 6Ch sound card instead of onboard sound card the day before. If this the case, I do need a bigger PSU. My current PSU's rating is 300W with +3.3V 14A, +5V 25A, +12V 10A only from L&C Technology, Inc. Model LC-300ATX. The cards on this machine are: 56K PCI modem, 10/100 NIC, 32MB TNT2 4X AGP video card, PCI TV Tuner (TV@nywhere Master), 5.1 6CH PCI sound card.

get at least a +12 @ 18w  and the other 2  no lower than 30W
