PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows 98
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:CD/DVD-ROM Samsung SD-604
Error Messages: Drive is locked by a disk utility.

Please help! I was having problems running CD-ROMs and the message D drive is unaccessible kept coming up. When I tried to scan the D drive with Norton I get the error message 'D drive is locked by a disk utility - scan later when disk has benn unlocked' - or words to that effect.

Here is what I have tried:
I have booted up using my back up floppy disk and typed 'unlock d' at the A:> prompt (without the quotes)
I have started up the PC in safe mode and removed the cd drive from the devices manager and restarted and although it autodetects the CD drive, the problem does not appear to have sorted itself.
I thought about updating the driver - but my CD driver is on a CD-ROM, which is no use, because CDs won't run!
I have also thought of uninstalling Norton or I might scrub the hard drive, using fdisk and deleting the partitions etc and reloading win98 HOWEVER if the CD-ROM still won't run after I do this, I'll be left with a very expensive ornament Grin therefore I don't want to do this until I know that the D Drive is up and running again.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!
