Operating System Version:Windows XP-Home Edition
Problem Application Name & Version:All
Problem Hardware Make & Model:Dell K7-950 Athlon 950 mh
Error Messages:None

Any active window in use (Excel,Word,Explorer etc)automatically deactivates about every 20 seconds freezing whatever I am doing and requiring a mouse click on the window to reactivate it. I have been unable to identify any program that might be causing this irritating problem. Using the windows restore program fails as it goes through the restore function and at the very end says "cannot restore to this date-try another". It continues to say this with whatever date I use. Any ideas?

I would first run a spyware remover like Ad-Aware:

If problem persists, use Diagnostics Startup Mode to troubleshoot the problem:
