Windows ME (Pre loaded)
900 AMD
256 RAM

When I try and boot up my PC I get a message saying that I have missing or corrupt files.

C:\Windows\Ifshlp.sys
C:\Windows\SystemVmm32.vxd

Type the name of the C:\windows\stsem loader

The Microsoft Support site states that I must modify my WinbootDir entry in the MSdos sys file to point to the correct location of the Windows folder.

Extract a new copy of the Ifshlp.sys file to Windows folder and extract a new copy of the Imagehlp.dll file to the windows\system folder.

if you determine the Vmm32.vxd file is missing or corrupt you must rename the Vmm32.old in the Windows\system folder and then reinstall win ME to re create this file.

My PC had a preloaded version of windows ME but I have access to another pc that works with Windows ME but again had it preloaded.

I need help on how to follow Microsofts directions or can anybody else suggest another way in getting m PC to boot up.

Thanks.

You can get the Vmm32 here http://freepctech.com/articles/articles.php?ArticleId=49
and the Ifshlp.sys from Windows 95 should work.  http://www.marketwizz.net/windows95/win95b/
