So here is my problem. Yesterday I ran defrag and some system clean up and I must have done something wrong because suddenly my computer has been barraged with literally THOUSANDS of .zip files everywhere.  They are in the my documents folder, in the favorites, in every single program file, on the desktop, in the start menu, and everywhere else.  Without exaggeration, there are three or four .zip files in every single folder in my computer.  EVERY ONE.  There are some .exe files, too.  They have names like "xnwguykvhjrcu.zip" Also, I have about 20 pictures missing, both .jpg and .bmps.  So here is my question: What did I do and HOW DO I FIX IT?!?! I'm afraid to open any of the files, and even if I do open them, how long is it going to take to unzip about 3200 files!

Operating System Version: Windows XP
Error Messages: NONE

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP!

You have a parasite of some kind. Download and run Adaware and Spybot Search & Destroy  1.2 from the following websites :

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download

After you downloaded them, go off line, close all programs  and run
Adaware first then Spybot.

Here goes... I tried to system restore for last week, but somehow it didn't work. It went through the whole deal and then told me that no changes had been made. I scanned for viruses using norton (although my virus definitions are about 2 weeks out of date) and it found nothing, scanned for a parasite using adaware, and it found nothing.
