PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Microsoft XP Home
Problem Application Name & Version: Microsoft XP Home
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Dell Dimension 8250
Error Messages: to many to name



I recently got rid of a virus i had on my machine and now that its gone every time i log on i get like 5 error messages for assorted different things and it also takes a really long time to log on now. I was wondering if i reinstalled windows would it effect all my program files, my documents, etc.?

Hi SM,
Post exactly the error messages you're getting.Maybe we can get it fixed without reinstalling windows.Also,after getting rid of the virus,you must disable system restore,then enable it again.The virus will be in the system restore files,that's why it needs to be disabled.
If you want to reinstall windows,the best way would be a clean install.that means wiping out everything that's on the hdd,then formatting it,then installing windows.You'd need to put whatever you want to save(favorites,documents,etc.)& burn it to a cd.Then putting them back after you've reinstalled windows.
