PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: WIN XP Home
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Hi,

I have deleted the installer for a programme I downloaded some time ago. The programme still works on my laptop but I wish to use it on my desktop, where it was never installed.

I cannot download the programme again because it was been updated and no longer has the features I use.

If I copy the directory dedicated to this software, is there anything I can tweek in the registry or startup files etc. which will make the programme run on my desktop?

Thanks

Not really. It is very unlikely. Even if it were possible, you'd need serious technical skills to be able to do that. And that's all assuming both of your computers are using the exact same version and revision of Windows.

You're better off just repurchasing or re-obtaining the software.

Sorry.

Thanks Shplad

Both computers have XP Home, bought at a similar time and have been upgraded with SP1.

Because of big problems with the Laptop, I want to reformat the disc without doing a backup, just copying my data and the odd programme. As I said the original software is no longer available.
