PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows ME
Problem Application Name & Version:nero 5.9.9.9
Problem Hardware Make & Model:tdk velo 40/12/48
Error Messages:
re format cdrw

have had this problem for a long time. when making cdrw's the cdrw excepts data for awhile, "maybe a day or over a week" than an error pops up saying the disc needs to be reformatted. I'm able to copy off theold data and format and start over again. Also my cdr's take forever to burn.

Have also tried booting with just nero loaded and have replaced drive

I have 512m rem
amd 1.3g cpu
maxtor 60g hd i/o 0
cdrw is on disk i/o 1

Hi CW,
I would start by doing some general maintenance.Delete everything in the "temporary internet file".Do a "scandisk" & "defrag".Also,you may have too many things running in the background.Read & follow this link.

Ok, I tried all your suggestions along with closing everything down except for windows explorer and systray.  Ran nero and it took 6:40 to burn 250megs on a new cdr. Doesn't sound right to me

what speed are you burning at? usually 1x burning 640mb takes around 1hr.. and 2x takes around 25-30mins.. 4x.. and so on.. look at what speed are you burning the CDR @.. as that might be your problem.. another factor to look at is what speed can the CDR handle.. because old one can only handle like 4x...
