I wonder if any one can help, me being computer illiterate. I have recently developed a problem. when the computer starts up i presume its my modem starts to connect to the internet. It never used to do this. If i cancel the dial up then try and access ie6 or outlook express it wont connect. the only way i can connect is by going through the dial up networking connection then open ing outlook or ie.

I'm sorry, but I just don't understand your problem. could you please clarify exactly what it is that you feel is going wrong? When you try to access the Internet using a web browser or using a mail client, it is not unusual for the machine to try to dial in to your ISP.

Hi Fink,
Try selecting "Never dial a connection" under the Connection Tab of the Internet Options.
Take care.
