PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:WindowsXP
Problem Application Name & Version:Windows XP
Problem Hardware Make & Model:Generic Pentium 3
Error Messages:none

I am able to manually place the Volume control icon in the System Tray (or known as the Notification Bar) but on every reboot it is gone and needs to be manually replaced. Restoring the "sndvol32.exe" file from the installation disc for WindowsXP doesn't fix it either. Anybody got an idea for a fix for this?

Hi IB,
Have you tried clicking start>control panel>sounds, speech,& audio device.Click "adjust the system volume" & put a check in "place volume icon in the taskbar",then click apply, then ok?
Take care.

Download Attachment: Volume Icon in Taskbar.jpg 79.15 KB
Right click and select Save Target As... then rename the file as shown here and save.

Hi IB,
Try this.
Place your XP CD in then go to Start/Run and type in:
EXPAND -R X:\I386\powrprof.dl_ C:\Windows\System32

Once done: Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 stobject.dll
Take care.

P.S.
Your best bet would be to copy & paste it in the run box.

The process went without an apparent hitch but with no result. The icon for volume contol still did not appear in the System tray unless I go to contol panel, sounds, etc. Thanks anyway. Any other fixes will be welcome.
