Hi

I am using Outlook Express 6 on windows xp pro.

When I receive a word attachment, I get the message "OE removed access to the following unsafe attachments in your mail" and i am unable to view the attachment.

I have up to date Norton internet security package on my pc which includes norton anti virus, so I assume that the attachment doesn't contain a virus.

Is there any way to stop this happening?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian,

Open OE and go to Tools | Options | Security (tab) and remove the check mark from "do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that might potentially contain a virus" - or similar wording - and click Apply | OK.

I should mention, though, that you should always save any attachments you receive to your desktop and scan them with up to date AV before you open them, even if they are from a friend or family member.  They may have a virus and not know it.  Also, never open an attachment from an unknown source.
