PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:xp pro
Problem Application Name & Version:not sure
Problem Hardware Make & Model:hp 933mhz pavillion
Error Messages: x800c0005



when i go to windows update and it tries to scan my pc to see what updates are available it tells me "windows update has encountered an error and cannot display the requested page."  The error code is x800c0005....plz help

Also,if you're using a firewall,disable it temporarily to see if you can d/l the updates.

have you changed any security settings that may prevent the scan?
Try putting the site in your Trusted Zone. Go to Tools | Internret Options \ Security and click on the Trusted icon, then click on sites and add Microsoft.com, then OK out.

thanks for responses, still had to do a clean install...nothing else would work...doin fine now.  thanks again
