Hey IBMer:

I haven't heard that term since...since...since I used to be an IBMer.
I can suggest two things you might try. First, boot up again normally, so that you can try intentionally to get that blue screen (called a stop error) again. Write down every detail of that message. They are often very helpful.  Then post the message details here and we'll try to figure out exactly what to do.

Your other option, if you're in a rush is to boot from Your Windows CD and when you're prompted, choose the Repair Windows option. This will check and replace any DLL and .exe files Windows believes are damaged or missing on the hard drive. However-the caveat is that it may replace program files that were update by some applications and patches and updates you installed, so you risk breaking the functionality of those programs.

Hi IB,
What you can do is go into safe mode by restarting your computer & keep tapping the F8 key. When you get into safe mode, use the up/down arrow & select last known good configuration(your most  recent settings that worked),then enter.
Take care.
