HI there Smiley i wanted to ask something about networking, iam using pentium 4 machine and windows xp professional.
i wanna know that is there some software or way to connect to someother pc with its user permison without using LAN but dial up internet, like iam using dial up and my friend is using dial up but v want to connect to each other so that v can look in to each other PCs, solve problems and can chat in some private window ... IS it possible please do let me know.. and if its possible then i think i will be needing the IP address of my friend to connect to him but as i told u v will connect through dial up isp service so IP address changes every time v dial up the internet..

I haven't done this kind of thing in so long I almost forgot how.
You have a few choices when it comes to doing this kind of thing.
First, you can configure a dialup connection using RRAS or Routing and Remote Access Service built into XP.  Second, you could use Communicationis software, such as Smartcom or Bitware. If it were up to me, I'd choose the RRAS, as with it, you can implement security, and other controls.  It is more sophisticated than most general communications software. You don't like the Internet?
