Just wondering if anyone has an opinion on a wireless mouse.  They look neat but I heard that they are very hard on batteries.  Then there's optical mice...whatever that means...I understand you don't need a mousepad, but again, I don't know much about them.

Also, what would you look for if you were considering buying a webcam? There's one priced at almost $100. but it appears to have a lot of bells and whistles....I am not sure what I need!

Thanks for any input.

Hey,

My personal opinion of a wireless mouse is that it's a waste of money. You can spend 2 or 3 times more on a wireless mouse just so you can have no wires and have to recharge it all the time. That's my opinion anyway.

I have an optical mouse. If you turn a normal mouse upside-down you'll see a ball, optical mice use light(optics) instead of the ball. Basically this means they don't have to be cleaned out every once in a while and they always stay as sensitive as the day you bought them.

The reason you don't need a mouse pad is that a ball mouse needs the friction between the pad and the ball to move the ball and thus move the cursor on screen, the optical mouse uses light to sense movement so you can move it over any surface and it'll work.

As for the webcam, it depends on what you want to use it for. If you want a super clear picture and excellent frame rates and all that you'll need to spend a bit more money, if you just want to do video chat with your friends then a cheaper one should. It's really up to you.

Hope that helped some, if you've got anymore questions you know what to do.

Ross
