PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: Windows XP on a Using HP-501A Pc
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Sony DVD/RW DRU510AK
Error Messages:

I recently purchased the above DVD Drive and I installed it last night in my computer. I followed the instructions on how to install the drive and once I finihed installing the drive and turned on the computer nothing happend. I will get a few beeps and both drives lights would flash and that would be it.

What I did was I left original drive as the Master and the new drive as the Slave. I used the original Scuzi plugged that same Scuzi into the Slave Drive too.

I then also switched drives, changed the Jumpers and still no luck.

After all that, I put everything back the way I started with, and It still makes the beeps and won't turn on.

Any info on installing drives would be great as this is obviously my first time and I didnt find the manuals much of a help.

Will.

These beeps you mentioned is the POST(Power ON Self-Test). One short beep means the POST is ok, anything other than this indicates a problem. They may just seem like beeps to you but that's the computer telling you what's wrong, listen to the beeps and then post back here and tell me how many beeps there are and whether they are short beeps or long beeps.

I managed to hear the beeps on my computer. There were 7 Short Beeps in total. It started with the 1st Short Beep having about a second break before the other 6 beeps followed.

Thanks for looking into my query.
