PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A)
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model:Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106)

Hello! This is my first posting and unfortunately it's a bit desperate.

We seem to have got the mypoiskovik trojan and have tried to do all the suggestions listed in the (numerous) other postings.

I'm REALLY a clunker on the computer.. so please be gentle and explicit with your suggestions! This 'ol dog's trying to learn new tricks!:)

To top things off, it seems to be preventing me from using Outlook for email.

I've run Spybot 1.3, hijack this, ad aware, CWShredder and even Window Washer to no avail. I've tried looking for the suggested files in safe mode but not found them.

Here is the log from the last HJT:

I'll try and be gentle

Ensure that Spybot, Ad-Aware and CWSredder are up to date

Disconnect from the Net

Enter your task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del)
End task on this entry
DLLHELP.EXE

Set Windows to show hidden files
Open My Computer.
    * Select the View menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * In the Hidden files section select Show all files.
    * Click OK.

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries and then FIX CHECKED when
ALL other windows are closed(including this one)

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://mypoiskovik.com/sp.htm
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://mypoiskovik.com/sp.htm

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://mypoiskovik.com/index.htm

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dllhelp] c:\windows\dllhelp.exe

Next would you run CWShredder and FIX all problems

RESTART your computer in Safe Mode find and delete this file
c:\windows\dllhelp.exe <---the dll.help.exe file

Do Scan with both Ad-Aware and Spybot in Safe mode
Restart back in Normal Mode, don't open a browser yet
Access Internet Options via Control Panel
Under the Programs tab "Reset Web Settings"
Under the General tab----Delete files and Reset home page

Post back with another Hijackthis log afterwards and let me know how your doing

You have a few unnecessary startup entries that can possibly slow down
your system and startup time
EG>>> LOADQM.EXE---realsched.exe---QTTASK.EXE

Best to enter a Program and see if you can disable on starup or
use a Startup control App.
http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
This one is small and puts an Icon in your Control panel

Go thru the list here and decide what you need---You don't need the ultimate troubleshooter

Thanks for the help! That was relatively painless!:)

I've posted the HJT file below. I wondered though that after all this find-and-delete activity, my Norton Protected Recycle Bin is showing stuff in it. I dared not even open it at this point lest I release mypoiskovik again!

Any idea how I should proceed?

Here's the log. and thanks again.

I don't use Nortons, if you have nothing important in the recycle bin
that needs to be recovered, don't you have the option to Right click
on the bin and empty the contents of both Recycle bin and Nortons

Yup. I wasn't sure if my (unsuccessful) attempts to delete the mypoiskovik had started it up again when I did the final dump from the Norton bin.

I just emptied it and everything seems fine.

Thanks so much for this. I also got rid of a couple of things from the startup as you suggested.

If there was nothing else that caught your eye in the logfile, I guess that's it for now.

Cheers!
