Every time I boot my computer I get a "missing information in content advisor" dialog.  I have to reset the content advisor or I cannot browse the net.

I have read the Microsoft fix for this problem.  It was to change "ratings.pol" in system files to "ratings.old.  I did this.  It was no help.

If this continues I will start using Netscape as my primary browser.

Did you also do this part?

1. Start Internet Explorer, click Cancel to close the error message, and then click Internet
2. Options on the Tools menu.
3. Click the Content tab, and then click Settings in the Content Advisor area.
4. Type the Supervisor password, and then click OK.
5. Choose the ratings options that meet your needs, and then click OK.

Hi,

If your running Win9x, then have you tried un-installing IE and re-installing?

Also, is the ratings.pol file been re-created as a result of renaming it?

If you rename ratings.old back to ratings.pol, are you able to do what I posted in my first post?

Do the settings stick?

After reading your last suggestion, I again checked my system files.  This time I noticed ratings.pol did regenerate.  I again changed the name to ratings.old1 and rebooted.  Problem seems to be solved.

I want to thank everyone for their help.
