PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: windows xp
Problem Application Name & Version:HJT
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

Can't runHJT. Sorry to post this twice, but I am new to this stuff. My home page was rediredted to
"file:///C:/searchpage.html#1526"
Everything I read says to run HJT, but as soon as I try to open it the same page pops up. Thanks in advance for any advice>

Try booting up in Safe Mode (Press F8 at boot time and when you get a menu, select Safe Mode).

Then try running HJT. Let us know how you make out.

Are you saying you can't download it, try this link

Don't try to open it, instead save it to disk
Create a permanent folder
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too and backups will be stored there.

Do a SCAN----Scan will change to SAVE LOG----copy and paste the WHOLE contents of the log
here... Don't try and fix anything yet----It is all important
