hi, after installing a cdrw where my zip drive used to be, no space for it, my cd rom is now recognised as the zip drive and my cd rom is now recognised as the cdrw on my desktop. i fitted the zip drive where the cdrw should have gone, used the slave from it and put it on the cdrw and left the power supply fitted to the zip.

Hi,

I don't understand what way you have the drives connected to the mobo. Can you clarify exactly what cables you have going into the drives? What do you mean you left the power supply fitted to the zip?
