Hey Curly, Can you do me a favor, and this is a must
Follow the above to rid your self of Wintools
On the Desktop---Click Start----Run---Type in services.msc

Locate WinTools in the list and right click>stop. Right click again and choose properties. Set to disabled. OK out and close.

Next would you please Download
Ad-Aware

IMPORTANT----Install---CHECK FOR UPDATES
We'll run this later

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Enter your Task Manager(Ctrl-Alt-Del) and ensure these processes aren't running
end process if they are
WSup.exe
WToolsS.exe
WToolsA.exe

Enter your Add/Remove Programs via Control Panel in safe mode and
Remove Wintools or WinSearch or if found

Set Windows to Show Hidden Files and Folders
* Click Start.
    * Open My Computer.
    * Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
    * Select the View Tab.
    * Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
    * Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
    * Click Yes to confirm.
    * Click OK.

Find these Files or Folders and delete them

C:\Program Files\Common files\WinTools <---this folder

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are close--IN SAFE MODE

The last 016 I'm unsure of but you will be prompted to reinstall if you visit the site, so let's get rid of...

The 017, are you in VA? the IPAdress looks sketchy

RESTART your computer in Normal Mode but stay disconnected from the
NET, Open Ad-Aware and set these
click the gear wheel at the top and check these options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Click "Proceed" to save your settings, then click "Start", make sure "Activate in-depth scan" is ticked green then scan your system. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

RESTART your computer one More time, I'm not totally convinced that
this will get you clean so could you also Download this small program

Download VX2Finder from this link:
http://tools.zerosrealm.com/VX2Finder.exe

Run Vx2Finder click on the *click to find VX2.BetterInternet* button. Then click *make log*.

Copy and paste the contents of the log into your next reply here.

Thanks for the super help Benditup. I appreciate you taking the time for that. I ran what you suggested, and everything seems to be much better and running smoother. Here's my VX2 log:

Hi curly, let's try this
Sign off and stay off the internet completely

I don't see any files in your betterinternet log, but I do see the
Guardian Key
Here are the proper instructions for removal

1.) Run Vx2Finder click on the *click to find VX2.BetterInternet* button.
2.) Now highlight and delete all the .dll files. Then select the *Delete these files* button.
3.) You will be left with notice about one to be deleted on reboot.
4.) Reboot
5.) Open VX2Finder again and click on these buttons in the right pane:
- user agent
- Guardian.reg
- restore policy
6.) Exit and reboot.

Post back with a Fresh Hijackthis log and a Log for VX2.BetterInternet File Finder
Let's see if your totally clean
