PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version: 98
Problem Application Name & Version:
Problem Hardware Make & Model: Mitsumi CD-Rom Controller
Error Messages:



Hi, My Cd-Rom drive is not working, it is not physically opening and when I turn the computer on i get a message saying " Secondry Drive not found" On the my computer menu there is just an empty space where it should be. Everything else is working. I have tried everything i could think of. Please Help!!! [?

Right-click MyComputer,choose Properties>DEVIVE MANAGER
Are there any yellow exclamation marks?
Is your CD-rom shown?

Yes, There is a yellow exclmation mark on the cd-rom drive icon and there is one on the " PCI Programmable Interupt Controller"

Remove the CD-Rom from ADD/REMOVE Hardware...reboot and let Windows re-install the CD-Rom drivers again.

Hi, Does anyone else have any suggestions or possible solutions.

The computer is being looked at on monday, but i was hoping this could be a problem i could easily solve without having to pay service charge.

Hi, sorry i forgot about your post


Ive tried reinstalling but it asks me to instert my windows cd rom wich i cant do for obvious reasons, the cd tray wont open or close, its like its not there.

Only thing i can think maybe a problem is...Huh?...have you set the leads for the jumpers at the back of your CD-Rom Drive correctly to the settings stated in your CD-Rom manual, which i have had problems with in the past but now resolved easily.

I'm no expert but this has corrected the same problem with me before, other than that cactus has suggested the rest.

Goto this page and find the MFG of the CD-Rom...click the driver page and save the drivers to a temp folder on your desktop...call it whatever,when asked for Win CD click Browse and browse to that folder.
