PLEASE SUPPLY RELEVANT INFORMATION:
Operating System Version:W2000
Problem Application Name & Version:IE6
Problem Hardware Make & Model:
Error Messages:

About 5 days ago, I started to get pop ups telling me I had spyware installed.  My harddrive was working overtime and IE was continually redirected to DRUsearch and some XXXsites.  I read these boards and tried Spy Sweeper, Adaware, Spybot.  Now I get the about:blank start page problem.  Can anyone please help? - here is the Hijack log:

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.) Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\DOCUME~1\smcdanie\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\smcdanie\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\DOCUME~1\smcdanie\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = file://C:\DOCUME~1\smcdanie\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = file://C:\DOCUME~1\smcdanie\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = file://C:\DOCUME~1\smcdanie\LOCALS~1\Temp\sp.html
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,HomeOldSP = about:blank

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A3A8A023-768C-46F1-A10B-DB32BA45B03E} - C:\WINNT\system32\hehjd.dll

Now delete these Folders or Files that are Highlighted: (You may need enable "Show all Files" and disable "Hide System Files" in Windows Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View Tab) (You may have to boot to "Safe Mode" in order to delete some Files/Folders)

C:\WINNT\system32\hehjd.dll

Now, empty all your TEMP Folders (WinXp has up to 4 of them) / Temporary Internet Files Folder and then empty your "Recycle Bin" and reset your homepage then reboot.

I am having a similar problem.  I had all of the same symptoms as this post.  I tried to follow all of the intsructions here and I am still seeming to have the problem. I went through and deleted everything that looked related and it still came back. The end result is that it keeps changing my homepage to "http://drusearch.com/user6"

****I just changed the hijackthis file, i made some changes, ran Ad-aware 6.0, and spy sweeper again and thought I fixed everything.  After I rebooted spy sweeper told me that the same URL was trying to add itself to Favorites and make it my homepage again.  If anyone could be of any help at all I would greatly appreciate it.

I am using Windows XP

jgramig, Can you do me a favor and start your own topic please
Simply click NEW TOPIC at the top of this forum
But first, Download to desktop CWShredder
http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/17/10-17-150.shtml

With only CWShredder open let it FIX all problems
RESTART your computer

Next would you download the latest version of Hijackthis
Delete your copy from the desktop

Important---Create a permanent folder hijackthis
EG---- Open MyDocuments----Right click an empty spot and select NEW---Folder----Name the new folder HJT ---this is where you will want to save Hijackthis too, also, backups will be stored there.
download from
HERE or HERE

You have other problems in your log so please repost in your own topic
