Did you install the burner yourself?

What's your Operating System?
Are there any Yellow exclamation marks in the Device Manager?
Try uninstalling the the CDRW then let Windows re-detect it and install the drivers again.
Widows will install all the neccessary drivers...you just need to install writing software.
Let us know...

Thanks for all your help!
I finally gave up and took my computer in to be worked on.
It can't be fixed ... has to have everything erased and all programs reinstalled.....
Wow!
