Hi again Mattius, you should remember how to do most of what's needed
so I'll leave out instructions

Set windows to show hidden files and folders
You have a few processes that shouldn't be there

Navigate to them
Right click on them----left click properties---version
What are they related too?
Please submit them to Kapersky for a free virus scan
http://www.kaspersky.com/scanforvirus
Simply navigate to them by clicking the "browse" button
Right click---select--- then "Submit"

C:\WINDOWS\system.exe <---looks like a worm
C:\WINDOWS\System32\votpcmbu.exe <---this file

There's one more process but I know it's not suppose to be there

Could you also delete your copy of hijackthis and download the newest
version
download from
HERE or HERE

Rescan and post a fresh hijackthis log, thanx

Hi This is what I got from that site for system.exe

Scanned file:   system.exe

system.exe - packed with UPX
system.exe - infected by Trojan.Win32.StartPage.ig

but the other file,
C:\WINDOWS\System32\votpcmbu.exe
would not send to the site it just kept loading and never submitted. When i tried to right click on the file 'windows explorer' or 'my computer' just crashed. This same thing happened when trying to right click on the system.exe file, so I cannot find out anything further about them.

Also i've noticed that when I right click on a lot of things on the desktop all the icons disappear and all I can see is my background then they all come back again which is annoying!

Anyway here is the new hijackthis log

Temporarily disable SpywareGuard until we are done

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Try and navigate to that file now
See what it's related too---it still looks bad, I can find no info on it

Enter your task Manager (Hold down CTRL+SHIFT and tap the ESC key)
Make sure these aren't running

votpcmbu.exe
system.exe

Find and delete these files
C:\WINDOWS\System32\votpcmbu.exe  <---this file
C:\WINDOWS\system.exe  <--this file
C:\WINDOWS\secure.html  <---this file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\explorer.exe <--this file--DON'T confuse it with explorer.exe in the Windows folder---just the one in the system32 folder

While still in safe mode
Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html

Don't open a browser yet, instead access Internet Options via Control

Under the General tab---Delete files + offline content---Also Reset home page

Reenable spywareguard
Post back with a fresh hijackthis log and let me know how your doing

I don't see this in your running processes any more

C:\WINDOWS\system32\explorer.exe
I assume you deleted it

It's in your hijackthis log though

You can have hijackthis fix these entries

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Explorer] C:\WINDOWS\system32\explorer.exe

RESTART your computer--after that you should be clean
Along with SpywareGuard did you get a chance to install these 2 apps.
I use them on both my machines
My canned speech Smiley

You should install these 2 apps., they add extra security while
silently protecting you without running in the background

SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link

With both---Check for updates every couple of weeks

Edit---When everything is running good you may want to flush your restore points and create a new restore point
