The computer was used by someone who was looking software i believe, and i put a stop to it as there was no need, in any case, i just want to clean it up as a result and see if it fixes some of the new issues i've noticed with the performance.  Any help would be appreciated

Access your task manager (Hold down CTRL+SHIFT and tap the ESC key)
End process on this
omniscient.exe

Do another Scan with Hijackthis and put a check next to these entries
and then FIX CHECKED when ALL other windows are closed

Optionally, I would remove these too, they are resource hogs, not needed on startup, programs work without them

If you want to remove RealBar---here's a link with directions
http://service.real.com/realplayer/toolbar/#7
then include the 2 entries in hijackthis to fix checked

RESTART your Computer in SAFE MODE

Find and delete these files or folders
C:\Windows\System32\wsaupdater.exe <--this file
C:\Program Files\WindowsSA <--this folder

Navigate to this folder
C:\Program Files\Real Alternative\Update_OB\
Open it
RENAME realsched.exe>>>>>realsched.exe.old

Go to START---RUN---type in "cleanmgr" without quotes for a DiskCleanup

RESTART back in Normal Mode
Do a scan with Ad-Aware--but first CHECK FOR UPDATES
Set these additional options for a custom scan
click the gear wheel at the top and check these options:

General> activate these: "Automatically save log-file" and "Automatically quarantine objects prior to removal"

Scanning > activate these: "Scan within archives", "Scan active processes", "Scan registry", "Deep scan registry", "Scan my IE Favorites for banned sites" and "Scan my Hosts file"

Tweaks > Scanning Engine> activate this: "Unload recognized processes during scanning."

Tweaks > Cleaning Engine: activate these: "Automatically try to unregister objects prior to deletion" and "Let Windows remove files in use after reboot."

Click "Proceed" to save your settings, then click "Start", make sure "Activate in-depth scan" is ticked green then scan your system. When the scan is finished, the screen will tell you if anything has been found, click "Next". The bad files will be listed, right click the pane and click "Select all objects" - this will put a check mark in the box at the side, click "Next" again and click "OK" at the prompt "# objects will be removed. Continue?".

RESTART your computer

quote:
i have used adaware, and spyware

What other spyware program are you using?

Post back with a fresh hijackthis log and let me know how your doing

Why cant it identify IE?  Anyhow.. i am using adaware 6.0.  I also have in a temp download folder on another drive the following uninstalled programs  Spywareblaster, Spybotsd13, Spysweeper3, CWshredder, ie-spyad, noadware.  Not sure which to use,  i have installed spybot i think, but it would not update or delete some of the files it found.

Thank you,  look forward to a reply

Just to make sure that you have the latest programs
Here's what I use
SpywareBlaster by JavaCool---will block bad ActiveX and malevolent cookies
Install---Check for Updates---Enable all protection
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

IE-Spyad---IE-SPYAD puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
Here is a tutorial and download link
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/index.php?showtutorial=53

With both---Check for updates every couple of weeks

Don't use noAdware
CWShredder only when you need it, it's not to be used when you don't need it
Make sure to check for updates with Ad-Aware once a week
and do a Smart System Scan

SpywareBlaster and IE-Spyad are free, make sure you get the latest
version of spywareblaster
I haven't used Spysweeper, but others use it

I don't understand this comment
quote:
Why cant it identify IE

Another thing I use is Mozilla Firefox
